This job shadowing programme is a five-day professional learning initiative designed for school teachers seeking to enhance their teaching practice through direct observation of educational work in foreign schools. Participants gain first-hand insight into classroom teaching, school organisation, and pedagogical approaches by job shadowing experienced teachers and educational staff.
The programme provides a comprehensive overview of teaching methodologies, classroom management strategies, assessment practices, and student support systems in real school environments. It highlights innovative approaches, inclusive education practices, and school culture, supporting teachers in transferring observed methods and solutions to their own educational contexts.
The job shadowing programme strengthens teachers’ professional and pedagogical competences through experiential learning in foreign schools. Participants develop adaptive learning skills by observing teaching practices and reflecting on their application in different classroom and institutional contexts.
The programme enhances communication, collaboration, and intercultural competences through peer-to-peer exchange with host teachers and school staff. Teachers also strengthen learner-centred and inclusive teaching competences, gaining practical insight into differentiated instruction, student support, and classroom dynamics.
The programme is implemented through a school-based job shadowing methodology combining structured observation, guided participation, and reflective learning. Participants follow a planned schedule of classroom observation, teacher shadowing, and school activities under the guidance of host teachers.
Learning is supported through preparatory briefings, daily observation tasks, peer discussions, and reflection sessions. Teachers analyse observed teaching methods, classroom management techniques, and school practices, focusing on transferability to their home institutions. The methodology emphasises experiential learning, peer exchange, and reflection to ensure sustainable professional development.
As a result of the job shadowing programme, participating teachers gain updated knowledge of teaching practices, school organisation, and educational approaches used in foreign schools. They improve their ability to integrate new methodologies, inclusive strategies, and classroom management solutions into their own teaching practice.
Participants strengthen intercultural communication and cooperation skills, increasing their confidence and motivation. The programme contributes to improved teaching quality, enhanced learner engagement, and stronger cooperation between schools, supporting the internationalisation and continuous development of school education.
